I love typography. I’ve been wanting to dip my toe in type design, but somehow never really put time into it. Until recently, I kicked off a side project named Type Expression Project. A set of custom-made types were created in distinctive styles for each section of this site. Perhaps, this could be the most fun project I’ve ever had in recent years that I worked on. No joke. Here I share my design and thought process of making them alongside some ramblings.

It’s hot. The sun is scorching the city with its high temperature. But it’s good. We don’t often see a sunny, clear, blue sky. This is how summer is supposed to be. It hope the blue sky can last longer, but it may soon cover by polluted air particles. Anyway, aside from the heat, Doraemon has come to town. We got to see the robot cat again. Ding Dong is the best friend that we all needed in our lives.

It’s hard. It’s discouraging. Learning a language will take years of dedication. The hardest thing wasn’t about the language itself; it’s about commitment. You ask yourselves how much time you wish to spend on learning. How to carve out time, everyday, just to practice. The devotion to overcoming the challenges and the defeats you experienced along the way keeps pushing you to back out. It boils down to the question of how to be motivated consistently. But you won’t have your answers by reading this I’m afraid.
